Be on the lookout for your 'fantasy' horse

Published: 30 March 2017

Now that we're about two weeks removed from the kickoff of the Fantasy Ownership Challenge at Laurel Park, contest horses should be reappearing in the entries.

A few already have, and they made enough purse money to move way up in the standings.

On March 24, Smart Angle LLP's Visual Effect, who was a late scratch from his race March 18 and thus remained in the contest, finished fourth in an allowance race at Laurel and earned $2,520. That put him in the top 20.

On March 28 at Parx Racing, Trin-Brook Stables' Office Secretary finished fourth in a maiden-claiming event with a big purse—$35,000—and collected $2,100. The filly, who is based at Parx and figures to race there for the most part, didn't earn any money in her March 18 start but moved up the earnings' list after her latest outing.

Four contest horses are entered in upcoming races at Laurel.

Ann Merryman's Strike 'n' Spare ($536 in contest earnings) is entered in the ninth race Friday, March 31. Two are in the box for Saturday, April 1: Madison Avenue Racing Stable's Colony Strike ($3,938 and 13th in the standings) is entered in the first race, while Jose Corrales and Didier Plasiencia's El Manut ($3,025 and 15th in the rundown) is set to go in the fourth race.

On Sunday, April 2, Victor Santiago's Supervisor ($7,846 in earnings) is entered in the seventh race of the afternoon. Supervisor is currently eighth in the standings.

Email notifications are being sent to contest participants as their horses are entered, but you can also sign up for Virtual Stable at equibase.com for notification of entries and results of races soon after they are run.
